- Students enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme will have their refund calculated on a cost-sharing basis, according to a percentage that depends on the student’s contribution level on the deadline for online application (21st December 2022), as shown in the table below. The percentage is applied to the cost indicated on the purchase receipt and up to a maximum of:
- 208€ for students assigned to the contribution level 1-39;
- 258€ for students assigned to the contribution level 40-75.
If you apply for the refund of both the public transport pass and the bike-sharing subscription, the percentage will apply to the total sum of these two values, within the above-mentioned limits.

PLEASE NOTE: students who cannot apply for tuition fee reduction because they have a special economic treatment according to the Tuition Fee Guide 2022/23 (i.e. students with disability, students who receive a scholarship from an external organization etc..) will have to send their valid ISEE/ISEE Parificato to the Tuition Fees Office by Ticket before 21st December 2022. Otherwise the refund will be calculated according to the contribution level 75.
- For Ph.D. candidates the maximum refundable sum is €125.
IMPORTANT:
Italian Decree Law n° 50 of 17th May 2022 (and its Conversion into Law n° 91 of 15th July 2022) allocated resources to create a fund aimed at distributing vouchers to purchase annual tickets for local, regional and interregional public transport services or national rail services until 31st December 2022. The value of the voucher may not exceed the amount of 60€. The voucher will be distributed to individuals whose 2021 total income does not exceed 35,000€.
Since at the time of publication of this document the procedures for accessing the "state" voucher are not available yet, those in the above conditions are invited to apply for it as soon as the procedures are available.
Politecnico might reduce the reimbursement of transportation expenses - to a maximum value of 60 euros -, for all students entitled to the "state" bonus, regardless of whether they have applied for it or not.
“UPDATE: following the publication of the details about the government’s transportation voucher, for a.y. 2022/2023 the maximum refundable amount abovementioned is reduced of the voucher’s value of 60€”.

- Which passes are refunded
Public transport passes can be refunded if:
- You bought it before 21st December 2022;
- It is valid from 1st July 2022 onwards;
- The duration is between 10 and 12 months. You cannot receive a refund of a weekly or monthly ticket.
Bike-sharing passes can be refunded if:
- You bought it between 1st July 2022 and 21st December 2022; if you bought it before 1st July, the subscription must be valid for at least 90 days on 1st July 2022.
- It lasts at least 90 days.
How to request the public transport/bike-sharing refund
To complete the online procedure, you have to attach the following documents:
- Purchase receipt of your public transport pass reporting the following information: your name and surname, the number of the card where the pass is loaded, the cost of the pass; purchase date; pass duration.
- Scanned copy of the card where the pass is loaded (both sides).
If you have a GTT pass you will have to indicate the type of card where your ticket has been activated and the card’s number.
After completing the online request, you will receive a confirmation e-mail into your institutional account. If you don’t receive the e-mail, contact the Tuition Fees Office before the deadline (21st December 2022) to check if your request was successfully completed.
You will receive the refund after verifying your purchase receipt. If your purchase receipt is unreadable, incomplete or referred to a type of ticket/subscription that doesn’t meet the requirements listed above, you will not receive the refund.
- How and when you will receive the refunds
You will receive the refund of your public transport pass and bike-sharing subscription according to the payment modality that you indicated on your personal page (Teaching Portal – Online Services – Tuition Fees and Payments - Choose your payment method to receive refunds from Politecnico).
Refunds will be processed from February 2023. You will see the corresponding credit and debit amounts on your personal page, portlet Tuition fee payment.
Please remember that the maximum amount refundable is only one for both travel ticket and bike-sharing subscription.
