The primary objective of the Politecnico is to promote the full realization of those who work and study there, through the promotion of physical, psychological, and social well-being.
Fundamental to improving corporate well-being is the care and attention given to the people who make up the University.
On the one hand, there are welfare services, and on the other, there is the well-being of an organizational life that concerns the relationship between the individual, work, and the organization as a whole.
The Counselling service (Spazio di ascolto) is a free, confidential, non-clinical psychological counselling service open to the entire Politecnico community (students, TAB staff, teaching staff and research staff). It is designed to support those experiencing psychological distress related to their studies or university work (anxiety, stress, and difficulties with relationships, motivation, organisation and emotions).
The service, provided in collaboration with the Department of Psychology at the Università di Torino, offers a listening ear, advice and support from qualified psychologists. It includes an initial consultation to assess your needs and up to five individual sessions (usually online) focused on support and the development of personal resources.
It does not deal with university guidance, emergencies or psychiatric treatment.
Access is granted by completing a form with institutional contact details; requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Passi@UniTo is a pilot project of Università di Torino, in which Politecnico di Torino participates. It aims to facilitate the presence and improve the process of academic insertion and local integration of international male and female students enrolled in the two universities, mainly from non-EU countries characterized by the use of educational, scholastic and social models that are culturally different from European ones.
Passi@PoliTo is a psychological counseling service that offers a space, in presence and remotely, for listening and understanding of practical difficulties and emotional issues that may arise during the course of studies and experience in Turin.
The service is free and bookable by appointment at passi@polito.it
Concerning the prevention and treatment of mental health problems experienced by people studying at Politecnico, a mental health counselling service is available, thanks to a collaboration between the Università degli Studi di Torino Neuroscience Department and the Politecnico di Torino.
The counselling service aimes to support off-site students who need continuity for therapeutic support for mental problems and/or need to begin a counselling pathway by a professional and possible follow-up care.
The process to access the service involves the following steps:
- firstly the person has to contact and be taken into care either by Spazio d’Ascolto (for Italian students) or by PASSI service (for foreign students);
- the mental health professional in charge of the case, after an appropriate assessment, if deemed necessary, starts a hospitalization process to the University Department of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital;
- the reference professional put the person on the patient waiting list and, on the basis of the advancement of the list itself, a consultation pathway may begin;
- diagnosis and treatment take place, depending on the needs assessed on a case-by-case basis, at the outpatient services, the inpatient wards or the emergency department of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital;
The Politecnico di Torino is participating in the inter-university SAMBA project, which aims to promote the physical and mental well-being, and academic success, of students.
The project offers a wide range of free initiatives, including psychological support services for individuals and groups, programmes to strengthen study skills and manage anxiety, preventive activities and workshops on well-being and healthy lifestyles. There are also opportunities for physical and sporting activities.
These initiatives form part of the university's commitment to fostering inclusion, emotional balance and enhancing the quality of university life.
The Survey on the quality of organizational life has the aim of providing a frame of the organizational well-being of Politecnico through the analysis of the data, which are collected through a specific questionnaire, by the team of the Department of Psychology of the University of Turin. The questionnaire is submitted through an IT platform, which guarantees respect for privacy and the collection of data in aggregate form.
At its third edition in 2021, it is a survey activity aimed at collecting the perceptions of those who work and study at Politecnico di Torino on a combination of factors that define the quality of organizational life. The goal is identifying all elements that can affect the level of well-being of the people who work and study at Politecnico, by influencing it positively or negatively.
