The Teaching and Language Lab (TLlab) is an open academic community that seeks to promote projects and research that make teaching – our first mission – more effective.

Established in 2019, building on international experiences and dialogue within the Collegi, the project took shape through workshops and the sharing of good practices across the University.

With the three-year project 2021–2023, training activities were implemented across three main areas: basic training, originally designed for newly recruited academic staff (L2T project); advanced training, with the objective of creating a group of mentors (M2P project); and continuous training, delivered through a range of activities (Teaching Week, workshops, Moodle-based initiatives).

Our mission

The TLlab seeks to support and innovate the quality of student-centred teaching and learning through processes of qualification, growth and enhancement of the teaching community of Politecnico di Torino;

It is a hub, a neutral field, an open and welcoming space, where our faculty can discuss and open up to study, discussion, experimentation, planning and evaluation, by also strengthening the teaching processes, tools and resources of our University;

The TLlab operates as one of the organisational units of the Training School, reporting to the Vice Rector for Education; it liaises independently with the faculty members and with the bodies responsible for teaching (Degree Programmes, Collegi and Departments); it also engages with the Quality Assurance Monitoring Committee inaccordance with the Internal Quality Assurance Flow.

Our goals for 2024-2030

  1. Keep an open dialogue with our faculty while providing them with adequate support;
  2. Promote and innovate teaching practices/technologies;
  3. Suggest activities to improve the quality of teaching;
  4. Support faculty appraisal and recognize teaching quality;
  5. Capitalize on the evaluation process of our faculty and its impact;
  6. Study and develop new teaching models to integrate into our context;
  7. Contribute to the (re)design of spaces and structures to encourage active teaching;
  8. Strengthen research on education and boost funded teaching projects;
  9. Promote and disseminate activities and experiments in the field of higher education.
