Against harassment

What is harassment?

It is any unwanted behavior, whether physical, verbal, or nonverbal, that has the purpose or effect of violating a person's dignity and creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment.

The person appointed by the University to provide assistance and advice to anyone (student, teacher, or technical, administrative, or library staff) who has suffered discrimination, harassment, or sexual harassment is the Confidential Counsellor: one of the figures responsible for implementing the principles of the Code of Ethics for the protection of the dignity of workers and students at Politecnico di Torino

As part of the University's initiatives to combat harassment, a short Guide against harassment has been prepared with the help of the former Confidential Counsellor, Arianna Enrichens, Esq., and in collaboration with the Life service, which at the time belonged to the PSQL Area, and the University's Legal Affairs service, now AVVO - University Attorneys. The Guide aims to raise awareness about sexual harassment and the existing protection measures.

To encourage collective reflection on the issue of gender-based violence and sexual harassment, and on the role of each person in creating a climate of responsibility, two interactive video lessons were held in 2021, the contents of which are available here, curated by the Confidential Counsellor. The first was dedicated to identifying and recognizing stereotypes, and the second to existing protection tools. They were introduced by a video from the Rector.
