Confidential Counsellor

CUG collaborates with the Confidential Counsellor, an external professional who provides consultancy and support in cases of harassment and discriminatory behavior. They offer free assistance, support, and advice — online and by appointment — to anyone (students, professors, or technical-administrative staff) who has experienced discrimination, harassment, or sexual harassment.

The Confidential Counsellor responds within 2 days of receiving the request, guarantees full confidentiality, and cannot take any action without the explicit consent of the person involved.

The current Confidential Counsellor at Politecnico di Torino is Lawyer Nicoletta Parvis.

Appointments must be requested via email: consigliera.fiducia@polito.it

To help raise awareness about the role of the Confidential Counsellor, CUG has created the initiative Ten Questions for the Confidential Counsellor. In this series, Lawyer Nicoletta Parvis answers ten key questions on topics related to gender-based violence and discrimination.

CINECUG is a project of the Single Guarantee Committee of the Politecnico di Torino, which includes a film series organized in collaboration with AIACE Torino dedicated to the screening of documentaries on highly topical social issues.

The initiative falls within the areas of intervention of the CUG, including equal opportunities, gender policies, sustainability, organizational well-being, and the fight against all forms of discrimination.

Through the shared viewing of a film chosen for each event, CINECUG aims to offer a space for reflection and open dialogue, stimulating discussion on central issues for the academic community and society as a whole.

For 2026, we will organise both screenings curated by CUG as part of the University’s PoliTO Cinema programme, and independent CINECUG screenings.

- Thursday 5 March 2026, 8.30–10.30 pm – PoliTO Cinema screening of the film “Four Daughters” (2023) by Kaouther Ben Hania.

The film, blending documentary and fiction, tells the story of a mother and her daughters marked by violence, sexism and radicalisation, offering a reflection on rights, freedoms and collective responsibilities.

Panel discussion: Silvia Barbero (Vice-Rector for Communication), Alessandra Colombelli (President of CUG), Enrico Maria Verra (AIACE Turin) and the student associations Mu Nu Chapter of IEEE–Eta Kappa Nu and RUN.

In 2025, three events were organised, each featuring a group screening of a film or documentary followed by a discussion:

-    Tuesday 13 May 2025, 5.00–7.00 pm – Screening of the documentary ‘Normal’ (2019) by Adele Tulli.

An unexpected journey and atlas through the norms, stereotypes and gender conventions of today’s Italy. A journey along those boundaries we call ‘masculine’ and ‘feminine’.

Panel discussion: Alessandra Colombelli (President of CUG), Tatiana Mazali (professor and coordinator of the Film and Digital Media Engineering degree programmes), Enrico Maria Verra (AIACE Turin), Adele Tulli (director).

-    Wednesday 8 October 2025, 5.30–7.45 pm – Screening of the film ‘The Circle’ (2017) by James Ponsoldt.

A psychological thriller about the risks of the digital world.

Panel discussion: Alessandra Colombelli (President of CUG), Tatiana Mazali (Professor and coordinator of the Cinema and Digital Media Engineering degree programmes) and Cristina Colet (AIACE Turin).

- Tuesday 25 November 2025, 4.30–6.00 pm – Screening of the film ‘Outrage’ (1950) by Ida Lupino.

To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the film tells the story of Ann Walton, a survivor of sexual violence who tackles the issues of trauma and social stigma with sensitivity and strength, denouncing silence and collective judgement.

Panel discussion: Alessandra Colombelli (CUG President), Tatiana Mazali (Professor and coordinator of the Film and Media Engineering degree programmes), Cristina Colet (AIACE Turin), Silvia Sinopoli and Silvia Spadini (E.M.M.A Anti-Violence Centres).
