With the Dual Career Programme, Politecnico di Torino intends to support student-athletes in balancing a sporting career with their academic education.
The Programme helps student-athletes with several support measures, according to the Dual Career Category (Gold-Silver-Bronze):
- possibility to take examinations on dedicated dates, with adapted modalities where appropriate, if official exam dates coincide with recognised sporting activities;
- support with enrolment procedures and management of the academic pathway;
- support in interactions with teaching staff provided by the Dual Career contact person of the Degree Programme Board;
- alignment of full-time enrolments with the rules and duration applicable to part-time enrolments;
- access to dedicated internship opportunities;
- recognition of ECTS credits within the available elective-credit quota, for the achievement during the academic career of medals in high-level competitions in disciplines recognised by CONI;
- award of additional points contributing to the final degree grade for students who achieve a podium placement in high-level competitions during their academic career, according to established maximum reference values;
- free access to university sports facilities for the student’s specific discipline, subject to the activation of specific agreements with CUS Torino;
- access to tutoring services for study activities and exam preparation;
- possibility to obtain a temporary suspension of studies for up to one year, or a waiver of academic requirements for continuation in the Programme, for significant sporting reasons;
- inclusion of participation in the Dual Career Programme in the Diploma Supplement;
- exemption from the all-inclusive tuition fee for “sporting merit”;
- award of a scholarship to athletes according to the sporting merit ranking.

It should be noted that, in addition to holding an active membership with a sports club recognised by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and/or the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP), applicants must also meet at least one of the following requirements:
- official selection to the Italian National Team;
- a declaration issued by the relevant Sports Federation confirming recognition as a student of “National Interest” or confirming selection for national teams;
- for team sports, regular membership with a club competing in one of the top three national federation leagues. For football, the fourth division is also considered valid. For team sports under FSP or FSNP disciplines, regular membership with a club competing in one of the two highest national federation leagues;
- for individual sports within disciplines governed by National Sports Federations recognised by CONI, ranking within the top 30 positions of the national absolute or youth rankings;
- formal recognition as an “Athlete of National Interest”;
- representing the University in international competitive events.
