Founded in 2018, the University Sports Teams are composed of a selected group of students and represent the Politecnico di Torino in national and international university sports events. Their objective is to strengthen the sense of belonging to the Politecnico and to create opportunities for community building, exchange, and team spirit.
In addition to the existing men’s football, mixed rowing, women’s volleyball, men’s basketball, and men’s and women’s tennis teams, from 2026 the women’s 3x3 basketball and men’s volleyball teams will also be included.
The men’s 11-a-side Football Representative Team was established in 2018, making its debut at the World Elite University Football Tournament (WEUFT) in Wuhan, China—an event regularly contested by some of the world’s most prestigious universities. The team’s achievements include a third-place finish in the 2019 edition of the tournament, held in Guangzhou, China.
In the following years, the team took part in the EUSA Football Championship, representing the Politecnico in a competition featuring universities from across Europe.
The team is composed of players selected from among all students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at the University who periodically submit their applications.

Building on the success of the Rowing Regatta—the annual event that pits the crews of PoliTO and UniTO against each other—the University established the Mixed Rowing Representative Team.
The crew, composed of both female and male athletes, made its debut in 2019 by participating in the traditional event organised by the Italian Rowing Federation, D’inverno sul Po, proudly winning the “Coxless Four” race against their counterparts from the Politecnico di Milano.
The Representative Team subsequently took part in the EUSA Rowing Championship, representing the University in a competition featuring university crews from all across Europe, consistently achieving strong results. It is also worth noting the success of the Politecnico crew at the 2025 Boat Race in Rome.
