PoliEtnico Choir invites you to "Percorsi", a concert by Sedicetto
Free entrance with booking (link to reserve a spot).
A concert as both map and route: the program spans centuries, languages, and geographies, interweaving madrigals, folk songs, contemporary spirituality, and choral writing of our time. Each piece is a stage in a real and imaginary journey, where the voice explores boundaries, memories, and other sonic realms. In dialogue with the theme of the QU.EEN series, singing becomes an act of discovery, play, and wonder, capable of inhabiting both the natural and the artificial spaces of Villa della Regina. A vocal path that invites listeners to move, through listening, across space and time.
The concert Percorsi is divided into three sections: nature and artifice, concerning the journey as discovery, exploration, play, and wonder; the journey through time; and “elsewhere,” focusing on travel beyond boundaries.
The “Sedicetto” of the Coro PoliEtnico
Within the Coro PoliEtnico - given the diversity of musical experience among its singers, including both those with extensive musical training and those with exceptional vocal potential - a small chamber group with a reduced lineup, the “Sedicetto,” was created under the direction of Matteo Gentile. In the Sedicetto, whose membership may vary each semester depending on singers’ availability and level, a key requirement for admission is independent music-reading and study skills, as the repertoire performed is more demanding and musically complex. This chamber group thus enables the exploration of repertoire that the full choir could not feasibly perform, whether due to its level of difficulty or the brilliance and agility required in performance.
Matteo Gentile (Turin, 1999) is a doctoral candidate in Practices and Repertoires of Italian Music at the A. Vivaldi Conservatory in Alessandria. He holds degrees in Musicology from the University of Pavia and in Choral Conducting and Choral Composition from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin. He further enriched his training through the advanced specialization course in musical aesthetics at P.I.A.M.S. and through masterclasses dedicated to choral conducting. Since 2017, he has been deeply engaged in choral conducting, founding and directing several choirs and vocal ensembles, including Novi Cantores Torino, and serving as assistant conductor (répétiteur) for prestigious Turin-based institutions such as the Accademia Maghini, the Accademia Corale Stefano Tempia, and the University Choir of Turin. In 2022, he was guest conductor of Coro G (dir. Carlo Pavese), and in 2024 of Coro Musicaviva.
