The AUT team at Polytechnic of Turin aims to increase the students' experience and awareness around the themes of self-construction, tactical urbanism, public activism and low-cost, high-impact urban transformations. To this end, AUT goes beyond the University environment and projects towards the public space, by means of self-built, small-scale interventions ranging from micro architectural installations that fit into the fragile urban space to experimental squares or pedestrianizations as injections of potential regeneration. Throughout their activities with AUT, the students are mentored by specialized professionals from both inside and outside the University, that we believe critical for a deeper reasoning on the transformations that are characterizing our cities and the understanding of the tools available to the architect to operate effectively, quickly and lightly. Beyond gaining practical on-field experience through hands-on laboratories and workshops, the students at AUT have a chance to broaden their horizons by taking part in inspiring meetings, debates, and talks, that we believe essential for the formation of a fully aware architect.

Team Ermione was founded in 2018 with a main aim of producing a cultural cinematographic work. This was achieved thanks to the skills of the team member such as communication strategies, 3D modeling and photorealistic rendering. The first project of the Team concerns the production of a short film that tells Gabriele D'Annunzio's life. The team's following project is about digital identity and social networks. It was presented at the event Biennale Democrazia 2019, where the expert Vanni Codeluppi and the influencer Paola Turani participated. EcòPoli and the Mu Nu Chapter of IEEE-Eta Kappu Nu association propose a project to optimize waste collection at the Politecnico. Correct waste management is an issue of fundamental importance since a series of environmental, ethical and economic problems are related to it. Taking inspiration from the data collection projects already active in our University relating to the consumption and production of electricity and water consumption, the idea is to extend monitoring to waste flows within the Polytechnic. The Project is based on an improvement of the current baskets with detection sensors (volume, weight and proximity) that will be applied without any modification that could hinder the work of the operators or modify their external state. The goal is to collect data on waste disposal, in order to be able to identify areas where this is not done correctly and those where greater use of operators is required for emptying the bins. Secondly, the installation of "intelligent" islands equipped, together with the sensors described above, with a video camera and a display that allow the recognition of the object through a photo and indicate to the user in which bin throw the waste.

We are a group of students of the Politecnico who come from different degree courses but what we have in common is the desire to find and try to solve environmental problems that there are within the university and raise awareness more and more student community and not, we have thus created an informal group called Ecòpoli. The proper management of waste is a fundamental issue because it is related to a series of environmental, ethical and economic issues. In a training environment such as the Politecnico, developing a deep sensitivity towards proper recycling and its consequences is particularly important. This is why we have decided to propose this project. In fact, our goal is to make more effective and efficient the separate collection within the Politecnico, thanks to the strong support provided by the Green Team and in particular the Waste Manager Debora Fino, our tutor, so as to make our university more sustainable. Through the introduction and implementation of our work, the students of the Politecnico will be able to develop a different vision from the current model of consumption and production of waste. Following a survey among the students, a series of critical issues were raised related to: - failure to communicate the importance of collection; - lack of information on how to correctly carry out separate collection; - sub-optimal location of different ecological islands. The improvement of separate collection must, first of all, pass through a strengthening of the ecological islands thanks to the addition of new baskets. In fact, all the baskets existing in the various Politecnico sites (C.so Duca, Cittadella Politecnica, Castello del Valentino, Lingotto and Morgari sites) have been mapped, so it has been possible to evaluate the number of baskets present, their condition and the areas where it is necessary to add more. At the same time, a communication campaign was carried out to help differentiate correctly. Infographic panels were designed to be placed above the baskets, indicating where to throw the various types of waste. At the same time, a widespread awareness raising activity is carried out through various events, workshops, conferences, informative stands and film forums. Interacting closely with the Green Team, we agreed that, to improve the percentages of differentiated waste within the University, it is necessary to monitor the collection. In addition to this review, other communication campaigns are being carried out and the project is being extended to include departments and outdoor areas. It is hoped that this will significantly increase the separate collection of waste in order to reduce the environmental impact of the Campus, making it increasingly sustainable. PoliTo in Light was born in 2015 from a team of students coming from different degree courses, in particular from the area of architecture and design. The initiative dealt with the design of a temporary lighting installation to be placed in the honour court of the Valentino castle and the realization of a full-scale prototype. The outcome of the student project activity was the work "Luce in cattedra", presented for the first time during 2015/2016 edition of Luci d'Artista and then re-proposed in the following years (2016/2017 and 2017/2018). From 2019, thanks to the interest of the Municipality of Turin to become part of the initiative by definitively inserting the installation in the circuit of Luci d'Artista, a renovation of the project is underway, in order to rebuild the lighting installation in its final form. The installation will therefore be realized and will be an original example for the University of use of technology as an artistic expression and a tool to focus attention on the theme of the use of light in the urban context.

The team is composed of students and former students of the faculties of Architecture and Design under the supervision of Prof. P. Mellano, M. Vaudetti and S. Canepa. Created in 2014, it carried out a first redevelopment of some outdoor spaces at "Lorusso e Cutugno" prison in Turin. Since 2017, the team is engaged in a participatory design and realization process of interior and exterior furnishing within the "San Michele" prison of Alessandria. In 2013 the European Court of Human Rights issued the "Torreggiani sentence". It condemned Italy because of the deterioration of penitentiary buildings' spaces. In response, "San Michele" has been developing a project of "dynamic surveillance" that implies a new attention to both architectural and social re-educational aspects. The team collaborated with the Department of Law of the University of Turin and has involved all the actors of the prison. It conceived a design that meets at the same time needs and restrictions of such a peculiar environment. The objective is to bring the attention to a qualitative improvement of the penalty spaces and their habitability.
