Sports Teams

Established in 2018, the University sports teams include football, rowing, volleyball, basketball, with men’s and women’s tennis teams added in 2023. These teams are composed of selected students that represent the Politecnico di Torino in national and international university-level sports competition, promoting both engagement and international exchange. 

 

Sports Teams members are selected through an application process. Applications are always open and  can be submitted by filling out the specific form on the portal.

Participation in the representative teams includes:

  • a minimum number of training sessions
  • Participation in at least one competition per year
  • a competition uniform 
  • access to training and competition facilities and equipment
  • sports insurance

Selection is based on academic and athletic merit. The academic criteria for admission to the representative teams are outlined in the table:

Sports Requirements: Second category 

 

*For the purpose of calculating annual ECTS credits, the credit situation as of September 30 is taken into account.

The verification of academic eligibility is carried out automatically by the Politecnico di Torino, which periodically informs the respective technical staff of the names of students eligible for sports selection. The technical staff then proceeds to convene the candidates, providing details on how the technical-sports selection process will be conducted. Participation in the selection requires a valid medical certificate for competitive sports. The selection made by the technical staff is unquestionable.

Participation in university sports teams is free of charge: no registration fee or compensation is provided. Personal data is processed solely for the purposes of the initiative. The privacy policy is available on the privacy section.

Men’s Football Team

The team was established in 2018, making its debut at the World Elite University Football Tournament (WEUFT) in Wuhan, China. The WEUFT is a prestigious tournament held regularly among top universities from around the world. In the tournament’s hall of fame, the team proudly holds a third-place finish from the 2019 edition, which took place in Guangzhou, China.

The team is composed of students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, selected through a periodic application process.

Weuft 2019

Mixed Rowing Team

Building on the success of the ROWING REGATTA - the annual event where PoliTO and UniTO crews compete- the Politecnico established a Mixed Rowing Team, composed by both female and male athletes. The team made its debut in 2019, participating in the traditional event organized by the Italian Rowing Federation, known as “D’INVERNO SUL PO”. The Team won the “4 Senza” competition against their counterparts from the Politecnico di Milano.
