How to join the Dual Career Program

To access the Dual Career Programme, candidates must belong to one of the following categories:

  • athletes engaged in preparation programmes for the Summer or Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games;
  • members of national teams;
  • athletes competing in individual sports ranked within the top 30 positions of the national absolute or youth ranking at the beginning of the academic year;
  • “Athletes of National Interest” recognised by the relevant National Sports Federation, Associated Sports Disciplines, or Professional League;
  • for team sports, athletes competing in one of the top three national federation leagues. For football, the fourth division is also considered valid; for Paralympic disciplines, one of the top two national federation leagues; and for Associated Disciplines, only the highest relevant national league;
  • winners of the AGON call;
  • athletes representing the Politecnico in international competitive events;
  • members of a military sports group holding the status of “athlete”.

Enrolment at the University for the relevant academic year is required in order to join the Dual Career Programme.

Recognized sports activities

 

  • Sports that have a National Sports Federation and Associated Sports Disciplines recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and/or by the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP);
  • international competitions (World Championships, Olympics/Paralympics, Universiadi, World University Games);
  • group training sessions in preparation for the competitions listed above.

Student-athletes who take part in the Programme are required to

 

  • undertake to maintain an exemplary sporting conduct;
  • undertake to promptly inform, including via email to staff.sport@polito.it, of their participation in competitions or significant events and the related results;
  • authorize the Politecnico di Torino, free of charge, to publish their image, video recordings and photographs on institutional communication channels and in campaigns and/or editorial initiatives related to the promotion of the dual academic pathway. The University undertakes not to use such images in any way that could even potentially harm the dignity or reputation of the individual;
  • agree to take part in national and international university competitions wearing clothing and/or accessories bearing the Politecnico logo, in compliance with the regulations of the competitions in which they participate;
  • undertake to participate in two annual presentation and orientation initiatives organized by the University, according to the procedures that will be defined;
  • undertake to participate in the selection processes for the Politecnico’s Sports Teams;
  • undertake to maintain the required academic merit standards for continued participation in the Programme, under penalty of exclusion.

How to apply

 

The application for admission to the Programme must be submitted through the dedicated form available on the Teaching Portal, in the “Online Student Office” section.
The application must be accompanied by:

  • documentation issued by the relevant Federation or Associated Discipline certifying eligibility under the recognised student categories;
  • documentation issued by the athlete’s sports club certifying weekly training commitments;
  • records of competitive results achieved;
  • a declaration undertaking to provide periodic updates regarding these results.
  • The application and all required attachments must be submitted by 15 December 2025.
    Applications submitted after this date, and in any case no later than 30 June 2026, will be considered for admission to the Programme, but will not entitle the applicant to financial benefits.

Students enrolling in a Master’s Degree programme in the second teaching period may access the tuition fee waiver, provided they submit their Programme application by 30 April 2026.
