PPG, a global leader in the development and production of coatings, is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1883, it is one of the 49 companies in the world present in the Fortune 500 list since the first edition in the 1950s. In Italy, it has 12 sites, including 9 production plants, and operates in various businesses, including Automotive, with the Quattordio (Alessandria) and Caivano (Naples) sites.
Quattordio is historically one of PPG's core plants, and is the most important plant in Europe for the Automotive division. In addition to the production of finished products in all technologies (adhesives and sealants, primers, waterborne basecoats, solvent-based basecoats and clearcoats), it is a centre of excellence for the production of paste bases, i.e. the colouring intermediates required for paint production. And it is precisely for the Paste Bases Centre of Excellence that an innovative project has been developed and implemented to revolutionise the production cycle of paste bases, significantly increasing the level of automation, efficiency and productivity of the department.
