Submit your ERC@PoliTO - Invitation to external researchers

Are you an excellent researcher in any country in the world with a groundbreaking research idea? PoliTO invites you to work in a favourable research environment to develop your idea and career.

What we offer

  • Guidance on how to enhance your profile, clarify concept and idea, ensure compliance against key ERC requirements, justify novelty and breakthrough results

  • An academic position at Politecnico di Torino taking advantage of the direct call provided by national regulations
  • Possibible negotiation of a starting grant from Politecnico di Torino to facilitate your integration into the academic environment
  • Reduction of your teaching load
  • Administrative support for all matters related to your transfer to Politecnico di Torino
  • Tax exemption under Article 44 of DL 78/2020 (for those who have been teaching or researching abroad for at least two consecutive years and who move to Italy acquiring tax residence)

If you would also like to receive support from PoliTO at the proposal writing stage, you must submit the pre-application form within 4 months of the deadlines of the respective ERC calls:

  • ERC Starting Grant: opening date: 22nd July 2026 - deadline: 14th October 2026
  • ERC Consolidator Grant: opening date: 24th September 2026  - deadline: 12th January 2027
  • ERC Synergy Grant: opening date: 17th February 2027 - deadline: 11th May 2027
  • ERC 2027 Plus: opening date: 1st June 2027 - deadline: 1st September 2027 
  • ERC Advanced Grant: opening date: 28th May 2026 - deadline: 27th August 2026/WP 2027: opening date: 27th May 2027 - deadline: 26th August 2027

The Work Program, information for applicants and other additional will be available on the European Commission website (in the "Funding" section) at the following  link.

The data and information received will be treated confidentially. You will be informed about the outcome after an internal screening process. If the evaluation is positive you will be contacted to start PoliTO support in the preparation of your ERC proposal.

Your application will be evaluated on the basis of:

  • Quality of your CV and project (information provided in the pre-application form)
  • Consistency of the project with PoliTO's research and teaching strategies.
