European territorial cooperation

European territorial cooperation is a central element in the construction of a common European space and a pillar of European integration; it contributes to ensuring that borders do not become barriers, promotes the solution of common problems, facilitates the sharing of ideas and good practices, and encourages strategic collaboration to achieve common goals. European territorial cooperation is also financed through the EU Structural Funds.

The main European territorial cooperation programmes in which Politecnico di Torino takes part are:

Cross-border cooperation programme along the border between Italy and France.
European transnational cooperation programme for the development of Alpine regions.
Regional cooperation programme between Central European countries:  Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia, as well as parts of Germany and Italy. The aim of the programme is to implement smart solutions that meet regional challenges in innovation, low-carbon economy, environment, culture and transportation.
European Observation Network for Territorial Development and Cohesion.
Interregional cooperation programme for the improvement of the effectiveness of regional policies and instruments.
