Education

The University Quality Assurance Unit promotes a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the University. To this end, it supports Degree Programmes at all levels also through specific education and refresher courses aimed at staff involved in Quality Assurance activities in the “Teaching” area. Below, in chronological order, are the education and information materials of initiatives by the University:

For the election of Collegi Coordinators and Degree programme reference people for the 2021-2024 term of office, the PQA supported and promoted the proposal of the Vice-Chancellor for teaching to organise a familiarisation course for the role dedicated in particular to the newly elected. The course, structured in four modules, provided for the analysis of various aspects concerning the organisation and management of Degree programmes, with some specific and operational in-depth studies also on the procedures and platforms made available by the University.

Presentazione incontro 14 dicembre 2021

For the election of the Collegi Coordinators and Degree Programmes reference persons in October 2018 and the contemporary new ANVUR scheme for drafting the Cyclical Review Report, the PQA organised a number of information and support meetings for the analysis and writing of the Cyclical Review Reports.

The familiarisation was carried out with a general information meeting, held on 18 September 2019, with Prof. Alfredo Squarzoni, Professor Emeritus of the University of Genoa and ANVUR System expert, as speaker, addressed to all the representatives of the University's Degree Programmes, during which a general framework on QA issues was provided, with a specific focus on the writing of Cyclical Review Reports.

On 27 September 2019, another kick-off meeting was organised for the start of the writing of the Cyclical Review Reports by the University's Degree Programmes included in the successive rounds.

Incontro PQA per RdR ciclico - 27 settembre 2019

Divided into working groups, between 2019 and 2021 the PQA reread all the Cyclical Review Reports prepared by the University's degree Programmes: even during direct meetings, changes were suggested in order to make the texts as consistent as possible and further improve them. The lengthy analysis process was an opportunity for the PQA to take stock of the state of QA in the Degree Programmes: the final analysis of the documents, the result of reflections and a rigorous exchange between the members of the PQA and between the PQA and the Boards' Referees, led to the identification of strengths and aspects that can still be improved in the system of QA of the Degree Programmes, and the results of the PQA’s monitoring and analysis of the Cyclic Review Reports were presented on 23 February 2022 to the Degree Programmes’ reference people.

Monitoraggio PQA su RdR ciclico - 23 febbraio 2022

In 2017, the PQA strongly desired and activated a pedagogical education project “Learning to teach in Higher Education”, resuming an initiative already undertaken between 2004 and 2008. The educational course, dedicated to researchers on fixed-term contracts, was held by the research group of the University of Padua coordinated by Professor Ettore Felisatti, Full Professor of Experimental Pedagogy, and represented the first innovative experience in this field on the Italian university scene, since it was an entire educational course dedicated to all researchers of a university.

The course, divided into 5 modules distributed between February and June 2017, touched on various topics starting from the perspective of the centrality of the student and continuing with learning outcomes, teaching methodologies, active learning and learning assessment. The aim was to provide researchers with tools for teaching, but also stimuli and food for thought on an area, i.e., education, which, since it is not the fundamental element for career progression, risks being somewhat neglected in Italian universities.

The second edition of the course took place between February and May 2018.

As of 2019, teacher education was organised and documented by the Teaching and Language laboratory of the University.
