Why pursue an internship after graduation?
Even after earning your degree, an internship offers a concrete opportunity to enter the job market, explore new professional fields, or further specialize in a specific area.
An internship allows you to:
- strengthen the skills acquired during your academic studies by applying them in real, dynamic work environments;
- experience a professional role firsthand, helping you assess whether it aligns with your career goals and expectations;
- connect directly with companies and organizations, expanding your professional network;
- gain easier access to employment opportunities, also thanks to job placement support offered by some companies.
Internships are promoted by public or private entities, authorized or accredited, that play a key role in organizing, managing, and supervising the internship. Their main task is to ensure the educational value of the experience and facilitate the connection between interns (students, recent graduates, or job seekers in general) and host organizations.
The Politecnico offers this type of internship (referred to as post-graduation internships) only to those who have earned their degree within the past 12 months. The maximum overall duration of post-graduation internships is generally 6 months, which may be split across multiple experiences (minimum duration: 2 months). This does not include any curricular internships completed previously under the same student ID.
Internships can be activated through the Politecnico only if they take place primarily in the regions of Piedmont or Lombardy, in compliance with the specific regional regulations, or abroad, subject to any constraints imposed by the host country's legislation. If the internship is based in a different Italian region, it is recommended to contact a local authorized promoter (e.g., an Employment Center).
Post-graduation internships cannot be carried out within university offices, departments, interdepartmental centers, or Politecnico laboratories.
Graduates in Architecture who meet the required criteria have the opportunity to start a professional internship, which may exempt them from the first practical test of the State Examination for registration in the Register of Architects P.P.C. More information HERE
It is necessary to open a TICKET from your personal page on the Teaching Portal – "Internships and Career Services" section. You will also find numerous FAQ that will answer your questions.
Emails sent by graduates to the address tirocini@polito.it will not be considered; opening a ticket is always required. This email address is reserved for host organizations only!
