Horizon Europe  is the 9th Research and Innovation framework programme of the European Union running from 2021-2027 che succede ad Horizon 2020. that succeeds Horizon 2020. With a budget of 95.5 billion euros, it is the most ambitious European Research and Innovation program ever.

The main objectives of Horizon Europe are to maximize impact, implement EU strategic priorities, such as recovery, green and digital transitions, and address global challenges, providing researchers and innovators with the tools necessary to carry out their projects and their ideas.

The programme is divided in three Pillars:

  • Excellent Science
  • Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness
  • Innovative Europe

In addition to them there is the transversal programme Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area (ERA).

Complementary to Horizon Europe are also the European Defence Fund for research funding in the defense sector and the EURATOM program for research and training in the nuclear sector.

With respect to each of these areas, calls for proposals are periodically launched, which can be consulted on the Funding and Tenders Portal of the European Commission.

The current coordinated projects can be found on the ongoing european projects page.

Participation support initiatives

The high level of specialization achieved by Politecnico di Torino in providing an effective support for European projects management allows to provide a customized and specialized internal support services for the Horizon Europe program.

Services are addressed both to individual calls, such as ERC and Marie Skłodowska-Curie, which are open to bottom-up themes, and collaborative calls, which are characterized by top-down themes and require the construction of a multidisciplinary partnership.
