Team EoliTO - Recruitment

EoliTO is a student Team who has been designing and developing a vertical-axis wind turbine since 2017, striving to maximize its efficiency through aerodynamic, structural, and electronic management innovations, pushing it to its physical limits.
With EoliTO, you can put into practice everything you've studied in the early years of your engineering program, participate in local, national, and international events and exchange knowledge with students from various degree programs.

Recruitment is open to students starting at least their third year of study.

Open positions:

• AERODYNAMICS: The Aerodynamics Section deals with the study of the aerodynamic performance of vertical axis wind turbines. The analyzes conducted initially require the use of reduced order methods, and then continue with 2D and 3D CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations using the STAR CCM+ software. The project culminates with wind tunnel tests at the DIMEAS Panetti laboratory. The design phase allows the development of transversal skills, thanks to the constant interaction with the electronics and structures team, in order to guarantee the correct functioning of the rotor.

• ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS: The electrical and electronics section is responsible for designing and building the energy conversion structure from mechanical to electrical: starting from the generator itself, to the development of the control board for all the sensors involved.

• STRUCTURES:The structures section, in collaboration with the aerodynamics section, is responsible for the design and actual construction of the wind rotor. The section is divided into subgroups that deal with CAD design of components, finite element analysis of the same, development and production of laminates, and 3D printed components.

• DESIGN/MANAGEMENT: The Design section is primarily responsible for managing all of the team's social channels (Instagram, Website...) as well as developing all new merchandise to be used during exhibitions, such as t-shirts, roll-ups, posters, and business cards. Outside of exhibition periods, some members of the section handle the team's economic and practical management through continuous contact with the reference figures of the DIMEAS department and the general secretary of the Politecnico.
