Enrollment procedures, deadlines, and modalities for the 41st Cycle are detailed in the Regulations for Enrollment in PhD Programs with administrative seat at Politecnico di Torino.

The enrolment process consists of two phases: the first must be completed online through the Apply@polito platform, the second must be completed in person. Enrolment is considered complete only after both phases have been completed. Failure to complete even one of the two enrolment phases entails permanent exclusion from the admission process.

Enrollment must be completed within the specified deadlines by all successful candidates, including those who have already accepted their position.

Below is a summary of the main steps in the procedure. In any case, it is strongly recommended to read carefully and thoroughly the aforementioned Regulations in order to comply with all required steps and avoid exclusion from the procedure.

First phase - online enrolment

Enrollment takes place through the Apply@polito platform, which includes the simultaneous payment of the revenue stamp, the Regional Tax for the Right to University Education, and the premium for accident insurance.

The first phase of enrollment involves the following steps to be completed by the successful candidate:

  1. Access the Apply platform, section IMMATRICOLAZIONE (ENROLLMENT), via the Teaching Portal using the credentials already provided;
  2. Complete the required declarations, including those regarding any current employment and/or simultaneous enrollment in another academic program;
  3. Make a payment of €161, covering fees not managed by the University (Regional Tax for University Right to Education - EDISU, revenue stamp on enrollment, premium for accident insurance). Any updates from the respective entities will be published in the Student Tuition Fee Guide for the A.Y. 2025/26.

Upon completion of the above steps, the student will be assigned a student ID number via the online procedure, and their status will be marked as "ENROLLMENT TO BE COMPLETED".

For candidates who, at the end of the first phase of enrollment, fall into one or more of the categories listed below, a conditional enrollment and a blocking note will be applied:

Case ANon-EU citizenship
Case BPossession of a second-level academic degree obtained abroad after the application deadline but no later than October 31, 2025 (for the session starting on November 1, 2025) or January 31, 2026 (for the session starting on March 1, 2026)
Case CEnglish language certification obtained after the application deadline but no later than October 31, 2025 (for the session starting on November 1, 2025) or January 31, 2026 (for the session starting on March 1, 2026)
Case DOngoing employment
Case ESimultaneous enrollment in other academic programs, requiring an assessment of compatibility by the Academic Board of the relevant PhD program

Candidates with conditional enrollment have limited access to university services of the Teaching Portal (e.g., they will not be able to request enrollment certificates, book exams, take exams, etc.) and cannot complete the second phase of enrollment.

Candidates with one or more conditions must comply with the provisions outlined in the Regulations for the resolution of those conditions and completion of the enrollment.

The PhD scholarship, if awarded, will be disbursed only after the second phase of enrollment has been completed.

Second phase: enrollment in presence

The second phase of enrollment must be completed in person at the University’s administrative offices, in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations.

If, due to exceptional circumstances (i.e., serious and documented health reasons, or failure to obtain an entry visa from the competent Consular Authority), it is not possible to be at the University’s administrative offices within the deadlines to complete the in-person phase of enrollment, the candidate must promptly notify the PhD Programmes Hub by submitting a ticket, along with a justified request for deferred start of the PhD program (the template is available at the bottom of the page). The PhD Programmes Hub will review the request and will communicate the outcome through a reasoned decision.

Candidates "without conditions" at the end of the first phase of enrollment
All successful candidates who, at the end of the first phase of enrollment, do not have any conditions must book an appointment and be in person at the Student Careers Unit within the specified deadlines.

Appointments can be scheduled through the Booking Tool available on the Teaching Portal.

On the day of the appointment, candidates must bring a valid identity document and the Italian tax code (codice fiscale) issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate (Revenue Agency), for verification of personal data and issuance of the smart card.

Candidates "with conditions" at the end of the first phase of enrollment
Candidates to whom one or more conditions have been applied must comply with the provisions set out in the Regulations, based on their specific case(s).
