Homeless families and homes without inhabitants

On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, an appointment of the series of meetings "A just city between poverty, pandemic and war?" will be held-at the Circolo ARCI Risorgimento in Turin, entitled "Families without homes and homes without inhabitants", organized by the "City & Territory" group of the Cultural Union of Turin.

Abstract

"The question of housing," never resolved, is proposed in increasingly dramatic terms. Against the backdrop of an almost total absence of national housing policies, we are witnessing the rampant evictions, the increase in the lists of families waiting for housing, the growing presence of people who are homeless or in extremely precarious housing conditions. At the same time, there is a large number of unused housing units, abandoned public buildings, and a stock of the City's housing stock, even outside municipal boundaries, whose lack of maintenance makes it impossible to make rational use of them. What strategies are in place by the City Administration, the Territorial Housing Agency and the "third sector" to address these problems?

Coordinator: Maria Teresa Roli and Guido Montanari

Interventions:
  • Jacopo Rosatelli, Councillor for Social Services, Turin - "The Municipal Administration's Policies for the Homeless Problem";
  • Emilio Bolla, president Territorial Housing Agency - "The role of the agency in the face of the housing emergency";
  • Gianfranco Cattai, president Cicsene - "Active housing policies".
