Mission

The Department’s objective is meeting the need to support increasingly both individual professors and research teams by facilitating PoliTo research activities development, the integration of research, innovation and education, the sharing of knowledge and its impact on the economy and society. The staff in this Department are in charge of the promotion of strategies for research and innovation, and contribute to the creation of an environment favorable to the attraction of funding and qualified researchers, to career development, to mobility of PhD candidates and researchers, as well as to talent attraction, in accordance with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers. The Department acts as an activation engine for collaboration opportunities with companies, by stimulating and directing the demand of companies and local authorities, as well as the exploitation of research results. The Department plays the role of the university agency for the promotion and management of research and innovation. It supports and ensures the proper implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan in connection with the University departments and offices concerned.

She supports PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan -NRP) coordination activities with a particular focus on the implementation of policies defined by the University top management for program governance, monitoring of data and the implementation of the various measures according to the achievement of objectives also in order to verify quantitative, qualitative, financial and temporal deviations, as well as with the aim of identifying and proposing corrective actions. She interacts with the units in charge for the resolution of both specific and system issues and for the correct interpretation of rules. She acts as a liaison between Divisions, University Departments and all the University contact persons involved in PNRR activities.

Dissemination and Impact Staff Unit

The Unit supports the Department in the following activities: the valorisation of the research environment and researchers and PhD candidates’ skills in managing relations with officials of the European Union, Ministries and other bodies. It is in charge of the dissemination of funding opportunities for research, supports the drafting of research projects as for dissemination, communication and public engagement, as well as actions to enhance the impact of research and innovation. It promotes the dissemination of scientific culture and method, of the dialogue between science and society, also through networking and the exchange of good practices for responsible research and innovation. It supervises the organisation of events the Department is in charge of and is responsible for the visibility of the Department's initiatives such as the “Service Charter” for companies. It coordinates the activities of the University Research Database in connection with the ISIAD Directorate and oversees research data for strategic planning and statistical analyses.

Legal Support for Research, Innovation and Ethics Staff Unit

The Unit supports the Department’s Divisions staff and the Executive in the following activities:in-depth analysis, legal opinions, legal documents drafting with the aim of interpreting the rules of calls and tenders, in the drafting of agreements related to the Department’s activities, as well as in managing strategic agreements with financing bodies and project partners.Staff in this Unit work on the drafting of Department’s documents which have to be submitted to the University Bodies and on their follow-up, as well; they support the Research Ethics Committee in their activities.This Unit is responsible for the participation in Knowledge Innovation Communities (KICs) and in similar partnerships (public-public, public-private), as well. It carries out the in-depth study of GDPR and data protection issues in research projects. It provides advice to Academic Departments on the legal aspects of funding programmes. It works together with ARIA in the preliminary phase of the establishment of or membership in consortia, foundations and associations with research purposes.

Budget and Administration Unit

The Unit supports the Executive and the Department’s Divisions staff in secretarial activities and meeting planning; it works on the drafting of Department’s documents which have to be submitted to the University Bodies, acting as a liaison between the Department and the Support to the University Bodies Division. Staff in this Unit support the Executive in coordinating and managing the Department’s activities, including the University Committee for Research, Technology Transfer and Services to the Community (CARTT) as well as the CODAU Working Group, where the Executive is the contact person for Research at national level. Staff in this Unit are responsible for the document management IT system, for staff managing (attendance, overtime, training), for goods and services purchasing and for logistics and working environment aspects.
