Air quality and urban microclimate

As part of the ARIA P@LIT@ project, the Department of Environmental, Land and Infrastructure Engineering - DIATI of the Polytechnic University, in collaboration with ARPA Piemonte (Regional Agency for Environmental Protection) and GEAM - Georisources and Environment Association, is proposing the Workshop entitled "Air Quality and Urban Microclimate", which will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the Energy Center of the Polytechnic.

Abstract

The impacts of extreme weather events and poor air quality induce significant environmental risks faced by the inhabitants of many Italian urban centers, whose vulnerability is bound to increase in the face of ongoing climate change. The advance of new technologies now provides new opportunities for the management and minimization of such risks, making available large quantities and varieties of environmental data (portable sensors, drones, radiosurveys) and new tools for their processing (numerical simulation, machine learning). In this context, new challenges arise for defining urban management strategies aimed at designing and implementing environmental monitoring networks and systems, managing and analyzing their data in real time, in order to understand and predict the dynamics of urban systems.
The objective of the workshop is to present current research activities on these topics, in universities and at local authorities, to discuss complementarities and synergies.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge.
A request for CFP recognition has been made to the Orders of Engineers and Architects of Turin.
