Support for Students with Study Difficulties

 

As part of the SAMBA project, Politecnico di Torino, in close collaboration with the University of Turin, has activated two specific courses aimed at supporting the student population throughout their academic journey: one focused on enhancement study skills and the other on managing anxiety related to the university experience.

Study Method Enhancement Course


The course aims to provide effective and personalised tools to optimise learning abilities.
The approach adopted is practical and interactive and is tailored to the specific needs of participants in order to improve study organisation and planning.

 

Service users

The course is open to the student population of Politecnico di Torino.
The course is free of charge.

 

Contents

The course will enable participants to:

  • develop skills in planning and organising their study activities;
  • understand and enhance their own learning style through metacognition;
  • acquire targeted strategies to optimise study methods;
  • take part in group work and guided reflection sessions;
  • learn effective strategies to approach exams with greater confidence and calm.

How to access and use the service

The service is free of charge for the student population of Politecnico di Torino.

To enrol, students must log in to their personal page, on the Teaching Portal and select
“Resources – Reservation Tool– SUPERA@PoliTO – Study Method Enhancement Course”

Registration includes a preliminary interview with the SUPERA HelpDesk (by phone, online, or in person).

The application deadline is Friday, 20 February 2026.

Study-related Anxiety Management Course


The course is designed to help students analyse and manage anxiety related to lessons and exams, with the aim of preserving performance quality and fostering the full expression of individual potential.
Through a guided pathway led by professionals, participants will learn techniques to reduce academic stress and develop a more balanced approach to university life, without giving up their personal interests.

 

Service users

The course is open to student population of Politecnico di Torino.
The course is free of charge.

 

Contents

The course will enable participants to:

  • analyse anxiety to understand whether it is impairing (actual anxiety) or positive (anticipatory anxiety);
  • learn to tolerate anticipatory anxiety by recognising it as a useful ally to mobilise concentration and cognitive energy;
  • reduce and manage impairing anxiety through techniques and strategies functional to study and university life;
  • discover the strength of group work and cooperation among fellow students, encouraging the sharing of emotions and experiences.
