Mission

The Department develops projects and provides technical and managerial support for initiatives on University's sustainability initiatives and decarbonisation pathway. In particular, the Department is responsible for the environmental and social challenges/goals promoted by the UN 2030 Agenda, monitors their impact on the Campus at different levels, and guarantees the supervision and coordination of activities related to sustainable transitions within the University. The Department in liaison with the other offices, plans and coordinates actions aimed at developing a new research model for the University, enhancing the specificities of its sites, through the interaction between departmental and inter-departmental research, pursuing an effective operation, valorisation, development and promotion of research infrastructures and central laboratories, within the framework of a rationalisation of their financing, implementation and management methods. It supervises the technical-managerial activities of University research infrastructures and interdepartmental centres; it coordinates the activities of quality systems accreditation and improvement of the University laboratories and manages tests and calibrations directly for some of those. It also supports the project initiatives identified by the Director-General also with Program Office and Program Management activities.

She supports the Univerity Governance and the Director-General in the development of the University' strategy on topics related to sustainable transitions. She participates in the Program Management of the initiatives. She supports relations with the external stakeholders of the University. She is in charge of the planning and administrative activities of the PoliTO Energy Center. She supports the participation of the University in networks and projects on the issues of sustainable development in the STEM field.

The Staff Unit supports the Department’s Divisions and the Executive for the following activities: staff management and document management IT system; budget management, monitoring and planning; goods and services procurement in cooperation with the Department’s Divisions; support to Department’s Divisions and the Executive for secretarial activities.
