Mission

The Department supports strategies for research, innovation and continuing professional development, fostering polytechnic research, the integration of research, innovation and education, and their impact on the economy and society. Through an integrated system of services, it supports academic staff and research groups in developing scientific projects, promoting excellence, the dissemination of results and synergies with the Specializing Master's Programmes and Lifelong Learning Division, businesses and institutional stakeholders. It is committed to attracting resources, infrastructure, strategic assets and talent, promoting sustainable academic careers and the mobility of researchers, in collaboration with the units dedicated to career development. It fosters collaboration with the business sector, the exploitation and protection of research outcomes, the maximisation of the use of scientific facilities, and the strengthening of research impact, including through entrepreneurial initiatives. It promotes research projects at national and international level, liaising with funding bodies and coordinating the University’s strategic initiatives with an impact-oriented approach. Finally, it supervises the implementation of strategic programmes, including the PNRR, ensuring their consistency, effectiveness and sustainability in coordination with the University’s departments and the relevant institutional stakeholders.

Senior Domain Expert Financial Management of Funded Programmes and Projects

She supports the RIMIN Department in cross-cutting activities related to the planning, management and financial monitoring of strategic projects, with reference to the PNRR, Horizon Europe and other national and international competitive calls for proposals. In particular, She coordinates reporting and auditing, provides regulatory and management assistance, develops internal control tools and collaborates with internal and external structures to ensure effectiveness and compliance in the management of funds. She also liaises with the Departmental Districts in activities supporting the Research and Divisions within the Department, gathering requirements on emerging issues or topics and promoting the adoption of shared best management practices.

She refers directly to RIMIN Department and supports the Department in the strategic oversight of the University’s model for Interdepartmental Centres, promoting their consolidation as interdisciplinary scientific groups focused on research coordination, strategic positioning and the development of high-impact projects. She works in collaboration with the Department's Units and in liaison with the Centre Coordinators, the Central Administration departments, supporting the evolution of the Centres’ organisational model in line with the University’s strategies and with national and international research trends, and facilitating the alignment between the Centres’ needs and the University departments responsible for managing the spaces, services (PROGES Department) and infrastructure necessary for carrying out research activities (RIMIN Department Division).

She supports the RIMIN Department in cross-cutting activities related to the development of entrepreneurial initiatives, with the aim of encouraging the creation and growth of innovative businesses by students, researchers and academic staff. She acts as a focal point for all University initiatives aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills and promoting a culture of enterprise.In particular, She promotes an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset among PTAB staff, students, researchers and academic staff. She coordinates support programmes and pathways. She facilitates access to funding. She collaborates with internal and external structures. She supports business creation and monitors the impact of initiatives.

She works within the RIMIN Department, focusing on initiatives that support the development of research careers, particularly in the early stages (starting from the PhD) and in career consolidation. She promotes and coordinates strategic actions to enhance the professional growth and competitiveness of researchers, supporting their access to competitive funding opportunities and the recognition of their skills in both academic and non-academic career paths. She oversees the alignment of the University’s policies with the principles of the European Research Area (ERA) and coordinates activities related to the “HR Excellence in Research Award”, fostering collaboration across internal structures and with national and European networks and organisations committed to developing attractive and sustainable research careers.

Domain Supervision - Export Control, Security and Research Protection

She coordinates the unit dedicated to compliance with dual-use technology exports and research security, with a particular focus on managing legal, regulatory and operational risks related to: projects with sensitive content (e.g. dual-use technologies, critical data, non-EU collaborations); security and transparency requirements requested by funding bodies; compliance with European and national regulations on export control, dual use and research security.

Legal Support for Research and Innovation Unit

Head of Unit

The Unit provides highly specialised support to the Department and all University Offices in matters relating to research law, industrial law and intellectual property protection. The Unit acts as a point of reference for legal issues related to participation in calls for proposals, project management, collaboration agreements and the protection and exploitation of research results. The Unit drafts opinions, contracts and legal documentation for projects, calls for proposals and agreements. It collaborates with the Anti-Corruption, Transparency, Privacy and Support to Ethics Committee Unit (ARIA) on GDPR and compliance, supports the protection and exploitation of research results, participates in IP committees and round tables, and contributes to the policies and regulations definition. It assists the Technology Transfer Division (TTO) in the management of contracts and PII protection strategies.
