Survey

Gathering feedback from the university community is an essential part of the Quality Assurance process and the continuous improvement of the University's activities. The adoption of Guidelines on the administration of questionnaires to University staff and students (in italian Linee Guida sulla somministrazione di questionari al personale e agli/alle studenti di Ateneo) stems from the need to systematize the various surveys, avoiding overlaps and duplications in order to ensure maximum participation in the questionnaires. With this in mind, questionnaires administered to entire categories of individuals must concern topics of general interest to the University. In order to achieve the objectives of the Guidelines, the role of directing and coordinating the process leading to the administration of questionnaires is entrusted to the University Quality Assurance Committee (in italian Presidio della Qualità - PQA).

This page provides a summary of the main information on the survey request procedure. Please refer to the Guidelines for further details.

If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the dedicated administrative office in the STARQ area (contact: survey@polito.it).

The following five types of surveys are commonly used at the University:

  1. Institutional surveys, which are cyclical and follow a structured process with well-defined actors and roles (e.g., CPD, Good Practice, and Organizational Well-being Surveys);
  2. Institutional surveys, defined for specific needs;
  3. Scientific surveys, mostly promoted by research groups to entire categories of individuals affiliated with the University (e.g., PO, PA, RTT, PTAB, students, groups of students not affiliated with a single degree program);
  4. Surveys addressed to a subset of categories of individuals affiliated with the University (e.g., students of a course, professors affiliated with a department, students affiliated with a degree program, or professors affiliated with a college, PTAB affiliated with an administrative structure, etc.);
  5. Surveys promoted externally.

  • Type 1 surveys: it is not necessary to submit a request to the PQA, but it is sufficient to inform them of the survey and the period of distribution (email to survey@polito.it) three months in advance;
  • Type 2 and 3 surveys (requests from internal staff): you must submit a request to the PQA via the online procedure on the University portal “Poliwiki” (section “Organizzazione e Personale” - “Richiesta survey”), to which you must also attach the survey in PDF format;
  • Type 4 surveys (requests from internal staff): contact the head of the relevant organizational/educational structure. It is therefore not necessary to submit a request to the PQA, but to inform them of the survey and the period of distribution (email to survey@polito.it);
  • Type 5 surveys (requests from external parties): you must submit a request to the PQA by contacting survey@polito.it. Please specify the following information and attach the survey in PDF format:
    • the purpose;
    • the recipients;
    • the expected timing;
    • the proposed methods of administration;
    • the estimated time required to complete the questionnaire;
    • the use of the results.

If the questionnaire deals with personal data, the Anti-Corruption, Transparency, and Privacy Office is available to provide support (contact: privacy@polito.it).

The PQA will analyze the request and may ask for clarifications, additions, and revisions regarding the content and wording of the questions, as well as the timing and methods of administration. Applicants will then receive feedback within 30 days and in any case by the first monthly meeting of the PQA. It is therefore advisable to take these timelines into account when submitting a request, especially in the case of questionnaires related to research projects.
