The list at the bottom of the page provides a (non-exhaustive) list of the Open Access policies of publishers and scientific journals concerning the versions of annexes to be deposited in institutional repositories.
Definition of versions
- Preprint / Submitted version: scientific article not published or not yet approved by a peer review board
- Postprint / Author’s accepted manuscript: post-refereeing version without editorial layout (page numbering, price, logo and copyright)
- Postprint editorial version / Version of record: copy of published version
Keep in mind that sometimes a publisher may indicate different policies from periodical to periodical, so it is also worth consulting the Sherpa Romeo database.
On SCOAP3 (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics) there is a list of journals in which authors from the Politecnico, as a member university of the consortium, can publish in open access with a CC-BY licence.
In order to secure the rights of use of publications, including the right to deposit in an institutional repository, it is good practice for the author to request the publisher to include a clause allowing him/her to make his/her publication visible to open access on the University repository.
