One of the primary objectives of the Politecnico di Torino is to help to respond to the Societal challenges, indicated by the European Union as the fundamental challenges that research must address to ensure a sustainable future for the planet.
Since the institution of the “5 per mille” (5 per thousand), the Politecnico has chosen not to use these resources for the ordinary management of the University, but to finance research projects for social development and cohesion, with a view to educating the student community and to serving the local area and its inhabitants. In recent years, thanks to these funds, lecturers, researchers and students at the Politecnico have been able to carry out projects worth around 450,000 euro.
We would like to thank all those who have supported our initiatives and to renew our invitation to continue contributing to our projects: the 5 per mille to the Politecnico di Torino costs nothing, but multiplies resources for research!
The 5 per mille is not an additional tax burden and costs the taxpayer nothing. It is a share of the income tax (IRPEF), which the Italian State allocates to the support of organisations that carry out socially relevant activities, such as university research.
Choosing the allocation of the 5 per mille is simple, just put your signature in the box “Finanziamento della ricerca scientifica e dell’Università” (Funding of Scientific Research and the University) that appears on the tax return forms and specify the Politecnico di Torino’s tax code: 00518460019.
