You can do a graduate internship only after completing your studies and once your student record has been updated by the relevant offices.
According to current regulations, the Host Organization must provide a participation allowance. The amount of this allowance varies depending on the regional rules where the internship takes place.
In Piemonte, for instance, the minimum monthly allowance is €300 gross for a 20-hour weekly commitment. This amount increases proportionally up to €600 gross per month for a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
In Lombardia, the minimum gross monthly allowance is €500 for a 40-hour weekly commitment. It may be reduced to €400 if meal vouchers or a canteen service are provided, and to €350 if the internship involves less than four hours of daily activity. The allowance is paid in full if you participate in at least 70% of the scheduled activities each month in Piemonte, or 80% in Lombardia. For further details, please refer to the section on the relevant regulations.
In Piemonte, internships cannot be carried out remotely, while Lombardy allows extracurricular internships to be conducted in smart working mode, provided that part of the training experience takes place in person at the company’s premises.
Both the Host Organization (company or institution) and the Promoting Organization (Politecnico di Torino) must ensure proper monitoring of the internship by appointing a tutor each. You will need to identify your academic tutor, who is usually the same person who supervised your thesis.
Once you have agreed with the Host Organization on the contents, methods, schedule, and duty station of your internship, please remember that you must prepare some documents before the beginning of your internship:
the Internship Agreement between Politecnico di Torino and the Host Organization, and the Training Project.
