Biografia

Andrea D'Amico is a Ph.D. candidate in Electric, Electronic and Communication Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. His current research activity includes the implementation of analytical models of fiber-optic nonlinear propagation and the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques to Open Optical Network for planning and controlling.

Andrea was born in Latina (LT), Italy. He obtained his B.Sc. in Physics in 2012 at University of Pisa with a final mark of 109/110. Then, he obtained his M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics in the 2016 at the Pisa University with the final mark of 110/110 cum laude.

In 2017, he worked in Milan for NTT DATA as a software engineer consultant. During this professional experience, his activity included the implementation of Big Data solutions for an international TelCom company.

In 2018, he won the postgraduate research scholarship "Nonlinear interfering theory extension of wide band optical networks" at the Electric, Electronic and Communications department at the Politecnico di Torino. During this period, he contributed actively to the reasearch activities of the Planet Team within the Optical Communications (OptCom) research group.

Alongside his current research activities, Andrea is an active member of the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), working in the Physical Simulation Environment (PSE) team to aid the design and implementation of an open source library for use in optical feasibility evaluation in multivendor optical networks, together with companies like Facebook, Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper Networks, and many more.
