The Unite! Widening Training Series 2026

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) will host the next Unite! Widening Training Series from 26 to 28 May 2026.
This intensive three-day “lunch-to-lunch” programme, featuring interactive sessions, workshops, peer work, and dedicated networking opportunities, has been specifically designed for PhD candidates and early-career researchers from both Unite! partner institutions and Widening universities.

As the academic landscape becomes increasingly globalised, technical expertise alone is no longer the sole benchmark for success. This training series aims to equip the next generation of scholars with the essential skills needed to navigate ethical complexities and work in diverse professional environments.

The course focuses on transparency, gender balance, and cultural diversity in research environments. Throughout the sessions, participants will address one guiding question: how can we build research environments that are fair, transparent, and inclusive in everyday practice?

Programme
The programme is built around three key areas designed to broaden the scope and impact of modern research:
  1. Open Science and Integrity - exploring how transparency and rigorous ethical practices form the foundation of high-impact research.
  2. Global Competences - developing strategies for working in international teams and enhancing intercultural communication.
  3. Equity in Academia - acquiring tools to address unconscious bias and effectively integrate gender perspectives into scientific work.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
Registration deadline: 20 April 2026
