With a growing number of international degree programmes and an increasingly diverse student population, Italian universities are moving to greater complexity and a more global vision.

Making our university an international university is one of the pillars of the University Strategic Plan 2024–2030. Modernizing and improving our educational models is essential to positioning our University as a leading institution in advanced education. Planned actions include increasing the number of English-taught courses, piloting European degrees, strengthening cooperation initiatives with Africa and Latin America, and promoting specific projects to foster international mobility of faculty, researchers and students.

Within this framework, the TLLab plays a key role in supporting the development of pedagogical approaches that promote interactivity, collaboration and inclusive practices.

Areas of intervention within the International Classroom:

  • Multiculturalism, to raise lecturers’ awareness of the impact that the cultural diversity of international students has on teaching practices;
  • Language, to enhance teaching delivered through a foreign language in the international classroom;
  • The international lecturer, to encourage the teaching staff to engage in meaningful teaching experiences abroad.

To achieve these objectives, the TLLab undertakes the following actions:

  • Collecting data and analysing the impact of language and cultural dimensions on teaching and learning;
  • Designing specific training projects for the international classroom, integrating both language and intercultural aspects;
  • Reviewing and studying teaching methodologies adopted in international classrooms abroad.
