Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme

Politecnico di Torino has launched the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP@PoliTO)! 

UROP@PoliTO is an opportunity for Master's students to actively participate in research projects in collaboration with professors and researchers.  

The programme offers students practical, first-hand experience in academic research, helping them develop critical, analytical, and creative skills for their academic and professional career.

UROP@PoliTO is currently active at many prestigious universities worldwide, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Imperial College London, Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen University). 

Its main goals are the following:

  • allowing participants to experience the world of research while boosting their CV; 
  • helping students gain or improve their research skills;
  • giving participants the opportunity to explore a potential career path in order to understand if academic research is the field they want to work in, continuing with a Ph.D. programme.

 

UROP@PoliTO Key features:

  • Collaboration with professors;
  • Practical experience: applying theoretical knowledge gained during university courses to real situations and problems; gaining practical skills in laboratory, data analysis, research methodology and other field-specific skills; 
  • An Open Badge will be awarded to the students who complete the research project;
  • Networking and professional growth.

How to apply

To submit your application, please access the Teaching Portal > “Opportunities” > “Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme”.

You may submit an application for each proposal of interest, attaching a cover letter through the dedicated online procedure.

If you are selected for more than one proposal, please note that you may carry out only one research activity.

Deadlines and project timeline:

  • Application opening date: December 1, 2025
  • Activity period: from December 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026, or until the Master’s degree is awarded, according to the timeframes defined by each proposer
  • Application deadline: June 30, 2026
