The PhD programme in Urban and Regional Development aims at promoting research on the main societal and environmental challenges we are facing globally. To do so it is organised in three thematic and multi-disciplinary areas, each defining a broad research space that allows for cross-fertilisation within and across the areas:
- Urban and Regional Studies
- Spatial Planning, Evaluation and Management
- Technologies, Techniques and Methodologies for sustainable development
Research interactions and connections are possible, and expected, since we point our attention to specific knowledge nodes that connect social and technical sciences: environmental and climate change challenges; urbanization processes; spatial policies, politics, and government; sustainability of development; societal and spatial digitalisation processes.
