Modeling and experiments of elastic wave propagation in complex media and acoustic/elastic metamaterials

Supervisor: Antonio Gliozzi

A PhD student is required to work on a project on elastic metamaterials entitled "BOHEME: Bioinspired Hierarchical Metamaterials". Research will include numerical simulations and experiments on elastic wave propagation in structured, bio-inspired materials to achieve optimized wave control. Hierarchical structures will be preferentially investigated to reveal potential enhancement of focusing/damping properties. Project partners include the University of Trento, CNRS (France), Imperial College London (UK), EMPA and ETH Zurich (CH).
