Interaction of mesoscopic quantum systems with gravity

Supervisor: Giovanni A.C. Ummarino

The thesis is on the use of quantum fluids as detector of gravitational waves in laboratory and the inclusion of gravitomagnetic fields in the study of the properties of rotating superconductors.

In superconductors photons have a non-zero rest mass arising from the Higgs mechanism and the Higgs mechanism applies to any gauge field generated by the superconducting electrons, including their gravitational field.

This fact bring to a theory of massive gravity and to study of possible superconducting radiation detectors.
