RESTART promotes and enables TLC science and technologies advancement, including all kind of related systems and networks, for both human and non-human users (e.g. 5G/6G; high-capacity fixed infrastructures, IoT, edge/core-cloud); applications and services in the most diverse sectors: agriculture, commerce, energy, finance, industry, media, health, safety/security, transportation. PTO acts as Spoke 4 on “Programmable Networks for Future Services and Media”, leading the spoke scientific research on fully autonomous, green virtualized networks and services, managing day-by-day activities, and coordinating and favouring the integration of all researchers contributing to the spoke. In order to give a structure to the overall research work, Spoke 4 is composed of two structural projects called Programmable networks and Processing and distribution of media. These are supplemented by one focused project called LEGGERO. According to this, the goals of Spoke 4 deal with: Deliver of a revolutionary, modular and scalable, software edge-device platform ensuring fulfillment of service level agreements, as well as authenticity and trustworthiness of service and multimedia content; Definition of breakthrough techniques for accelerated, fully- automated and flexible mobile networks and services; Design of radically new algorithmic solutions for the support and management of hyper-distributed, intelligent services and media delivery; Creation of novel, semantically meaningful data representations for bandwidth and energy savings, enabling data-driven, sustainable support of user quality-of-experience.
