A national investment of 1.6 billion euros for the strengthening of research facilities and the creation of "national champions" of research and development on some key enabling technologies.
The investment financed the establishment of 5 National Centers specialized in technological research in the following areas:
- High Performance Simulations, Computation and Data Analysis
- Agricultural Technologies (Agritech)
- Development of gene therapy and drugs with RNA technology
- Sustainable mobility
- Bio-diversity
Each center will focus on the creation and/or renovation of research infrastructure and laboratories, the implementation and development of research programs and activities, facilitating the birth and growth of high-tech entrepreneurial ventures such as start-ups and research spin-offs, and the exploitation of research results.
