IAM

Integrated Additive Manufacturing @ Politecnico di Torino

The infrastructure provides the entire Additive Manufacturing (AM) chain for metallic and polymeric materials, from powder production to characterisation of the components produced.  It makes use of state-of-the-art solutions such as:

  • Computed tomography
  • “Design for AM”
  • Production of metal and polymer parts
  • Customised heat treatments (including HIPping and quenching)
  • Finishing the components with unconventional methodologies.

Main services

  • Feasibility studies throughout the Additive Manufacturing supply chain:
  • Development and characterisation of metal powders
  • Design (polymer and metal DfAM) and component manufacture
  • Heat treatments, HIP, development of finishing methods
  • Dimensional, surface and defect characterisation using CT SCAN
  • Microstructural and mechanical characterisation.

Equipment

  • Dimensional inspection (scanner, CT scan, contact systems)
  • Polymer AM systems (FDM, SLS, SLA, DLP)
  • Metal AM systems (L-PBF, E-PBF)
  • Metal powder production (Gas atomiser)
  • NNS (HIP)
  • Heat treatments
  • Material characterisation

Access

  • Service provided by in-house staff (without intervention of external users)
