KIT and PoliTO students will join the Internation Joint Workshop “Pocket Lab: Explore and describe a heritage site by your smartphone”

Politecnico di Torino and Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT) are promoting the Internation Joint Workshop “Pocket Lab: Explore and describe a heritage site by your smartphone” between the 16 and the 20th of September at the Castello del Valentino. From Politecnico di Torino will be involved the Construction History Group and the Post-Graduate School in Architectural and Landscape Heritage [Scuola di specializzazione in “Beni Architettonici e del Paesaggio”, SBAP], which will host the event. In collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Regional Direzione Musei Piemonte, the Pocket Lab will explore the possibilities of creating knowledge and analyses of a heritage site by use of a smartphone. The students involved – 9 graduate students from KIT and 8 PoliTO students from SBAP – will test the implications of collecting and linking data and information, setting up a digital tool for research purposes, and adding critical selection and interpretation. Kazue AKAMATSU, Kazutoshi TSUDA, Kentaro SUGA from KIT and Mauro VOLPIANO, Claudia CASSATELLA, Enrico GOTTERO from PoliTO will tutor the Joint Workshop. The selection of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Reine’s Villa in Turin will permit students in the field of architectural heritage to analyze both the architecture and the surrounding garden, thanks to the collaboration of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
