People, Environment, Systems under Transition
The PhD Program in "Design and Technology, People, Environment, Systems" of the Politecnico di Torino organizes an annual Opening event dedicated to an "emerging theme" open to professors, researchers, and PhD students of the Department of Architecture and Design with the active participation of its PhD students, the Teaching Board, and the Stakeholder/Consultation Committee.
This year’s seminar, with the contribution of four international experts, will investigate the concept of Transition and its links with the claim “People, Environment, and Systems” to be followed by an afternoon of debate with the PhD students, the Teaching Board, and the Stakeholders/Consultation Committee.
Research for the project, the mission of this PhD, is thus intended as a tool capable of driving the Transition toward the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for consumers, businesses, and the environment, and at the same time, capable of affecting change in consumption, processes, and production and organizational systems. An approach oriented towards a holistic view to address new project challenges at different dimensions and scales (from product to service to process) and with respect to different actors (people, environment, systems).
The seminar is part of an overall event, including a PhD students workshop to be held a few days earlier, which is intended as a preparation activity for the seminar.
