Seminar "Historic Urban Landscapes- a dialogue Italy-Japan"

On July 3rd, the seminar “Historic Urban Landscapes- a dialogue Italy-Japan” organised by the School of Specialisation in Architectural Heritage and Landscape will be held. The event will be organised in the Aula Comoli of the School of Specialisation. Guest speaker at the event will be Shige Shimizu, professor at the Kyoto Institute of Technology.

This event is one of the long-standing collaboration between the Politecnico di Torino and the Kyoto Institute of Technology, a university that has played a leading role in both the recent joint workshops and the international conference organised by JapanHub in 2024 in Kobe and Kyoto. Recently, the Kyoto Institute of Technology published the book “Space and Landscape Shaped by Humans and Nature - The culture and Climate of Italy and Japan” based on the reflections made during the joint workshop “Pocket Lab: Explore and describe a heritage site by your smartphone” with PoliTO last September.

The main topic of the seminar will be the conservation and enhancement of historical urban landscapes and methods of analysis and intervention, including management approaches. In addition to Prof. Shimizu, the meeting will also be attended by the Director of the Interateneo Department of Territorial Science, Planning and Policy Professor Andrea Bocco, the Director of the School of Specialisation Chiara Devoti, Associate Professor Claudia Cassatella, Professor Mauro Volpiano and researcher Esteve Dutto.
