14/06/2024 – Online workshop on Robotics for Humanity and Healthcare linked young researchers from Italy and Japan.
On Friday, June 14th, 2024, PoliTO - JapanHub organized the "Online workshop of young researchers in conjunction with Italy-Japan workshop on Robotics for Humanity and Healthcare" thanks to the support of the Japanese (Jc-IFToMM) and Italian (IFToMM ITALY) member organization of the International Federation for the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms (IFToMM) and the Italian Association of Robotics and Automation (SIRI).
The main goal of the workshop was to enhance future collaborations of PhD Students and young researchers in Italy and Japan. Moreover, it opened the possibility for important discussion relating to R&D activities on Service Robotics for Humanity and Healthcare of young researchers in the present time. The Online workshop has been organized by Prof. Giuseppe Quaglia and Prof. Daisuke MATSUURA from the Tokyo Institute of Technology: it attracted 38 participants from Italian and Japanese institutions, giving the chance to strengthen international cooperation on research activities as well as information exchange regarding the research environment of Italy and Japan.
During the workshop, all participants were asked to vote for the presentation of their counterpart to award four winners:
- the Gold Best Italian Presentation Award went to Danilo Troisi from University of Siena with a work titled "Parallel robotic devices for wearable and portable haptic applications";
- the Gold Best Japanese Presentation Award went to Wang Chang-Wen from Waseda University with a work titled "A time sequence NN balancing system for the elderly's support exoskeleton";
- the Silver Best Italian Presentation Award went to Luigi Tagliavini from Politecnico di Torino with a work titled "Service robotics for welfare and precision agriculture";
- the Silver Best Japanese Presentation Award went to Micah Jibril Alampay from Tokyo Institute of Technology with a work titled "A Semi-wearable Sit-to-Stand Assistance Robot for Hemiplegic Elderly".
The winners will be awarded during the "International Symposium on Robotics Humanity and Healthcare: linking Italy and Japan in view of Expo2025 Osaka" which will take place in Kansai Medical University on June 21st, 2024.
