Prof. Eiichiro Tanaka from Waseda University visiting PoliTO

During the week of February 20–28, Prof. Eiichiro Tanaka from Waseda University was hosted by the Politecnico as a visiting professor in the framework of the PNRR TNE-LEGO project.

During his stay, the Professor delivered two seminars addressed to PhD students in the Mechanical Engineering program. In the first lecture, he presented the fundamental knowledge required for the design of assistive devices for human movement, covering the theoretical framework, principles of ergonomics, methods for human performance evaluation, and the formulation of dynamic equations. The second lecture focused on case studies and practical applications, presenting several devices developed to effectively support walking, upper-limb movements, standing, lifting, and other motor activities, with particular attention to the needs of patients, frail individuals, and able-bodied subjects.

During his visit, Prof. Tanaka also met with the staff of the INCAM area (Internationalization, Cooperation, Alliances and Mobility), where he introduced his university and initiated discussions aimed at establishing a broader collaboration agreement with Waseda University.
