Presentation PoliTo at the TTOP 2023 Symposium of the Tokyo Institute of Technology entitled: “A comparison between Japanese and European educational systems and research methods – The challenge of Torino Politecnico Japan Hub –“

On October 4th and 5th 2023, the Symposium “Tokyo Tech Open Innovation” (TTOP 2023) has taken place at the Tokyo Institute of Technology Ookayama Campus in Tokyo. The Symposium was aimed at spelling out the many issues often encountered in linking academia and business, which, despite many successful cases of venture business, nowadays could yet delay progress from seed research created in the academia toward innovative industrial activities. Tokyo Institute of Technology is one of the top Universities in Japan regarding science and technology and TTOP 2023 is one of the biggest industry/university collaborative events in Japan. TTOP 2023 is a unique technological platform capable to establish an ecosystem that could promote innovations in academia in cooperation with industries. In this occation, Professor Giuseppe Pezzotti, Director of the PoliTo Japan HUB in Kyoto, was invited to present the lecture entitled: “A comparison between Japanese and European educational systems and research methods – The challenge of Torino Politecnico Japan Hub –“. The presentation highlighted the innovative and unique initiatives of PoliTo, the first European University to open an independent office in Japan. Both functions and research contents of the newly born Japan HUB were presented, and the expectations and challenges ahead discussed in front of a wide and composite audience from Academia and Industries. Three main functions of the HUB were presented: giving the chance to young students from Italy and Japan to learn from renowned scientists in the two nations, exploiting synergies in 
the modality of research between interdisciplinary scientists across the two nations, and promoting and facilitating industrial collaborations between Italy and Japan. The presentation, which signed the debut of PoliTo Japan Hub in the Japanese technological world, attracted many scientists and potential industrial partners.
