Biography

Alessio received his Master Degree in Telecommunication Engineering in Politecnico di Torino in April 2017 cum Laude with a thesis about physical layer aware networking.
As PhD student he actively collaborates with Cisco Photonics in research activities.
Alessio is an active member of the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), beeing a collaborator in the Physical Simulation Environment (PSE) working group within the Open Optical & Packet Transport (OOPT) project. In this framework, he collaborate for the design of a python library for optical performances evaluation in multivendor optical networks together with companies like Facebook, Microsoft, Telefonica, Orange, Cisco Photonics, Juniper Networks, and many more. The code is available on gitub : Telecominfraproject/oopt-gnpy and Telecominfraproject/oopt-raman.
From November 2017 he is a PhD student at Politecnico di Torino.
In October 2017, he has been visiting researcher in the OpNeAR Lab at the Univiersity of Texas (UT) at Dallas working on the developement and validation of a physical layer aware orchestrator under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Fumagalli.
In March 2017, he won a six months research grant at Politecnico di Torino to prosecute his studies sarted with his thesis.
Alessio is the current president of the Torino OSA student chapter.
Alessio's interests include science communication, cinema and dog education.

Awards and Honors

  • L'articolo inviato alla conferenza OFC 2020 "Experimental Validation of an Open Source Quality of Transmission Estimator for Open Optical Networks" è stato riconosciuto dalla commissione come "Top-Scored" paper. In allegato il programma della conferenza che, a pagina 110 (63° foglio del PDF) riporta l'articolo con l'etichetta "top-scored". (2020)
  • The IEEE Photonics Society established the Graduate Student Scholarship Program to provide scholarships to outstanding Society student members pursuing graduate education within the Society field of interest.
