Biography

Matteo Sorrenti obtained at Politecnico di Torino both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Aerospace Engineering in 2016 and 2018, respectively. In November 2019, he started his PhD course (XXXVth cycle) in Aerospace Engineering at the same institution. His research focused on the advanced formulation of numerical models based on the zigzag approach for analysing multilayered composite and sandwich structures and corresponding experimental validation. In July 2023, he defended his Thesis, obtaining his PhD degree cum laude. Winner in 2023 of the Quality Price for PhD activity. In 2022, he spent some months at the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE), cooperating with the research group Composites And Advanced Materials for Multifunctional Structures (CAMMS) at the Naval Faculty (UPC) on studying multiscale modelling techniques for multilayered structures. From 2019 to 2023, he performed didactic activity as a Teacher assistant in the Master’s degree courses Aircraft Structures and Dynamic of Aerospace Structures. He is currently involved in research activity as a research fellow in the Aircraft and Engine Structural Design and Optimisation (AESDO) group at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) – Politecnico di Torino, focusing his activity on innovative optical techniques for the experimental measurement of displacements and deformations in sandwich structures.
