Biography

I am an Italian Material scientist and Conservation scientist with a strong interest in the study and characterisation of materials. Multidisciplinary background. Interests and knowledge also in the care of collections and in the study of archaeological artefacts and human remains.

Professional/Hands-on Expertise in:
  • Material characterisations (SEM-EDS, microRaman, microXRD);
  • Metal laser-cleaning;
  • Study of material/environment interactions;
  • Environmental monitoring;
  • Gas and strain sensors characterisation for monitoring the durability of reinforced concrete infrastructures;
  • Study of 3D-printed materials (industrial and food materials);
  • Prototyping experiences.

Soft Skills
  • Ability to present scientific results in academic context and communicate in public as a lecturer in academic and volunteer contexts;
  • Scientific communication with adults and children;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to details;
  • Autonomous work and team work;
  • Coordination, supervision and schedule activities of groups of people;
  • Hands-on experiences in organisation of events and special sessions, also in international conferences;
  • Skill in defining priorities, manage time and take responsibilities;
  • Knowledge in Intellectual Property Right.

Other Experiences
  • Science communication experiences with children and adults at the Royal Ontario Museum of Toronto (Canada) and at the "Xké? Il laboratorio della curiosità" Science Centre of Torino (Italy);
  • Work experiences in multicultural and international environments, such as in South Africa, Canada, Colombia, France, Spain and Egypt;
