Biography

Luca Barbierato graduated in Telecommunication Engineering in 2013. During his studies, he visited the University of Seville and the Department of Image Processing and 3D Innovations of the HHI Fraunhofer in Berlin. In September 2013, he obtained a semestral internship at Telecom Italia LAB following the activities of Energy@Home project to enable the active demand of residential customer in the context of the Smart Grid of the future. In November 2014, he was a collaborator of SWARM Joint Open Lab of Telecom Italia. He was involved in the research activities of FP7 INTrEPID Project, focusing on the development of novel technologies for energy optimization in residential buildings. Moreover, he participated in the Smart Mobility project OpenAgorà in the design of the device NiuGo for the intelligent monitoring of the routes taken by cyclists in the city.
In February 2016 he joined the Department of Computer and Control Engineering at Politecnico di Torino as a Research Assistant. He has been involved in the research activity of the project H2020 FLEXMETER, concentrating his effort in the development of a distributed platform for multi-vector energetic metering to enable innovative energy-related services for the management and balancing of distribution networks through Big Data Analysis, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques. Furthermore, he followed a project related to Industry 4.0 to optimize production process through innovative techniques at Fonderie 2A.
In November 2018 he joined as Ph.D. Candidate the Energy Center LAB. His main research interests are Energy Efficiency and Smart Cities with particular attention to the design of a co-simulation platform for Multi-Energy System assessment that will be developed in collaboration with researchers of the Energy Center LAB.
