Biography

My research focuses on the characterization and mechanical modeling of materials for structural applications. The activities, which include the development of both experimental and numerical methodologies for the mechanical design of components, comprise: i) Very High Cycle Fatigue characterization and failure analysis; ii) non-destructive characterization of materials; iii) fatigue design of components, through the development of dedicated methodologies and the integration with Topology Optimization algorithms; iv) design of structures for energy absorption and crashworthiness. The materials investigated range from widely used industrial alloys to advanced materials produced by Additive Manufacturing—such as lattice structures—and/or composite materials.
